An outstanding new variety selected for its amazing plum-coloured young leaves that emerge in spring and still look good in summer when the cerise flowers open in June. Then the foliage turns a rich burgundy colour in autumn. Plumtastic is a non-evergreen shrub and is completely hardy in all parts of the UK. Height: 60cm (24in) Spread: 60cm (24in). Position: Leaf colour richest in full sun but will still do well in part shade. Plumtastic thrives in a fertile, well-drained soil that does not dry out too much in summer. Planting Instructions & Aftercare: Water your plant thoroughly before planting. Prepare the planting area and enrich with compost and general fertiliser. Remove the pot and plant in the prepared hole so that the top of the rootball is level with the surrounding soil surface. Firm soil after planting and water regularly during the first year, especially during dry and windy spells. Use a good quality, soil-based compost, such as John Innes No2 if planting into a container. Remove faded flower heads to tidy the plant in late summer and cut back all stems by half in winter to encourage more shoots. Top dress with general fertiliser and compost every spring.
