Cotinus is a popular, easy to grow shrub with absolutely glorious, beetroot-coloured, rounded leaves, produced in whorls around the stem. The leaves appear almost translucent on a sunny day, and change to marvellous copper tones by the autumn.
The midsummer, feathery blooms are a sight to behold, and will impress the neighbours. Cotinus is a low maintenance shrub, which is neat, bushy and lasts for many years in the garden. The Smoke Bush will grow in many different soils, and enjoys sun or shade, and does not need any complicated pruning.
