Managers with over 20 years service received tokens of appreciation from the Klondyke Group’s Chief Executive Bob Hewitt and HR Director, Bill Stewart.
The four Managers who received recognition included Les Croy, Manager at Klondyke Garden Centre, Stirling. Les also retires from the company at the end of December after 25 years with Klondyke and over 40 years in the garden centre industry overall.

The Klondyke Group annual Garden Centre of the Year awards were presented at their recent National Managers Conference, held in Southport. Worthy winners of the 2009 awards were Strikes Garden Centre at Stokesley, with Houghton Hall Garden Centre as runner up.
Chief Executive Bob Hewitt and HR Director Bill Stewart presented the awards to Caroline Scaife and Claire Renshaw respectively.
read more »The Klondyke Group presented their annual Supplier of the Year Awards at this year’s GLEE Tradeshow.
The winning suppliers for 2009 were William Sinclair Horticulture Ltd and Farplants.
The awards are voted for by the groups 24 garden centres and reward excellence in supply, ordering, centre support, merchandising and customer service.
Both award presentations took place on Monday 21st September 2009 on the HTA stand at Glee and were presented by Klondyke’s Chief Executive, Bob Hewitt.

As part of our on-going relationship with local schools, the Gardens for Schools project allows us to help assist in projects and school curriculum work.
Customers receive one Gardens for Schools voucher for every £10 spent in a single transaction in our garden centres and coffee shops. Customers are then able to donate their vouchers to the school of their choice who can exchange the vouchers for free gardening products.

Weaver Vale Garden Centre was named the North West Winner of the Garden Centre Association’s ‘Most Improved Garden Centre 2008’, with Lady Green awarded the North West Winner of the Garden Centre 'Auditors Award for Outstanding Achievement.
The award follows the Garden Centre Association’s annual standards audit of 160 garden centres throughout the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.

Margaret Shurlock, Trainee Assistant Manager at Strikes Garden Centre, Darlington Road, Northallerton was named the national winner of the HTA Shop Care Award Candidate of the Year 2008.
The HTA Shop Care Award focuses on delivering outstanding customer service within the garden centre industry. Candidates taking part in the learning scheme have to pass a written test and an on-site assessment of their knowledge. The HTA Training Awards are essential tools for helping garden centres achieve trained, knowledgeable and confident staff.

A stunning floribunda Rose ‘Strikes Gold’ has been launched this week at the Hampton Court Flower Show, taking centre stage on the Mattocks Roses Gold Award winning stand.
The rose ‘Strikes Gold’ has been specially commissioned to celebrate the Centenary Year of Strikes Garden Centres.
The Company was founded in 1877 and registered in 1908 as nurserymen, seedsmen and florists and is now part of the Klondyke Group, the United Kingdom’s largest, independently owned garden centre operator.
